Connect 4

connect 4

For anyone who loves good old noughts and crosses in a languages lesson, it’s worth giving Connect 4 a try.  It’s as easy to make as noughts and crosses, you just need  a Connect 4 grid on a powerpoint slide.  Students work in teams.  They choose a picture on the bottom row.  If they get it right, draw a circle in that team’s colour over the picture.  Students may only choose pictures from another row, if there is a circle in the row beneath.  You can make it more difficult by getting students to build a sentence rather than just identify a picture, as in this Family Connect 4 I made for an AS group.  Warning: it gets very competitive and can take up to 20 minutes!
