We’re all going to the zoo tomorrow…

I used this video as a stimulus for work on dictionary usage and gender.  I asked the students to watch the video and make a list of all the animals they saw.  They then used dictionaries to find the German words for the animals which they wrote up in der/die/das lists.  A lot of the words are cognates but the non-cognates are a lot of fun (Nashorn, for example).
