Trip to Berlin with Halsbury Travel

During February half term, I led a school trip to Berlin, organised by Halsbury Travel. This was a trip that I had first wanted to do in 2019, then Covid came along and then it just seemed like too much work. I run a Year 8 residential trip to Germany and a German Exchange every year, so I am quite busy. However, I wanted my students to have the experience of going to Berlin.

I knew that I did not want to end up with another annual trip, so I chose to offer the trip to students doing German in Years 11, 12 and 13, with the intention of repeating the trip every two years. The bonus of this was that it gave the Year 11 students an opportunity to mix with the Sixth Formers and find out more about the A level course.

I was delighted with the service that I received from Halsbury. They created an itinerary based on exactly what I wanted and found an excellent, central, modern hostel for my group. The real measure of quality in a tour operator is when something goes wrong. The week before we were due to travel, the German parliament cancelled our visit to the Reichstag. Although they were within their rights to do this, I was very disappointed as this was one of the highlights of the trip. I was straight on to James at Halsbury who managed to get us a different time and rearranged the rest of our itinerary accordingly.

This is not an advertisement for Halsbury but I was so impressed by them that I wanted to share!
