Let’s write on the tables!

It’s an activity we have all done: brainstorming vocabulary on a new topic.  However, why not get them to write directly onto the tables, rather than using sugar paper or all crowding round the board?  This idea came from my colleague Beth and has worked very well with all age groups of students.  You can write different categories on different tables and challenge students to write one thing on each table, or you can direct students to particular tables.  Easy and engaging: what’s not to like?  P.S. I did check first that I could easily clean my tables.  Baby wipes cleaned my table tops in seconds.
