Speaking support

My students like to have notes when they are doing speaking work.  In order to wean them off their notes, I have done a variation of speed dating speaking where they practise the questions with a partner, but support is gradually withdrawn:

  1. read answers from your book
  2. speak rather than read answers (book still open)
  3. answer with book closed, sneaky peeks allowed!
  4. answer with book closed, no peeking!

Using this method has helped my Year 10 group to feel more confident about speaking as they always get a chance to practise with support.
